Memolens reads every photo once to build its on-device index — a few minutes for a library of ten-plus thousand photos. It happens exactly once: after that, new photos are picked up incrementally and every search is instant. You can leave the app during indexing; it resumes where it left off.
If iCloud Photos keeps your originals in the cloud ("Optimize iPhone Storage"), iOS has to download a photo before Memolens can read it. That download comes from Apple's iCloud over your network connection — on a slow connection, those photos take longer. Photos stored on the device are always instant.
Memolens speaks Simplified Chinese and English. It follows your system language by default; to override, use the language setting inside the app (gear icon → Language).
Photo access is managed by iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → Memolens. With access to only selected photos, Memolens searches just those; with full access, your whole library.
Deleting the app deletes its index (your photos are untouched). Reinstalling rebuilds the index from scratch on the next launch.
Nowhere. The index lives on your device and nothing is collected — the Memolens privacy policy is short and worth the two minutes.
