Memolens Privacy Policy
The whole policy in one sentence: Memolens collects nothing, and your photos never leave your device.
Effective date: August 27, 2026
Memolens has no account system, no analytics, no third-party SDKs, and no servers of ours to send anything to. The app reads your photo library to build a searchable index on your device, and that is where the index lives and dies. The only network activity in the app is Apple's own iCloud Photos service delivering your originals to your device.
1. Who we are
Memolens is published by INVENTOWISE LLC, an independent software studio based in Amherst, New Hampshire, USA.
This policy governs the Memolens iOS app. The INVENTOWISE privacy policy governs inventowise.com, the website you are reading now.
2. What Memolens collects
Nothing. Concretely, Memolens has:
- No account system — there is nothing to sign up for
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs
- No advertising identifiers or trackers
- No third-party code that phones home
- No INVENTOWISE servers involved in running the app — we could not receive your data even by accident, because there is nowhere for it to go
The App Store privacy label for Memolens reads “Data Not Collected”, and this policy is the long form of that label.
3. What happens on your device
Memolens runs a machine-learning model on your device to read each photo and turn it into a compact numeric summary (an "embedding"). Searching and the app's memory features compare those numbers — that is the entire trick.
- The model ships inside the app and runs on your phone's own chip.
- The index — embeddings plus basic photo metadata such as dates and album names — is stored in the app's private container on your device.
- Your photos themselves are never copied, modified, or uploaded by Memolens. The app only reads them.
4. The one network connection
If your library uses iCloud Photos with "Optimize iPhone Storage", some originals live in iCloud rather than on your phone. When Memolens needs one of those photos, iOS fetches it through Apple's iCloud service — the same mechanism the built-in Photos app uses. That transfer is between your device and Apple, under Apple's privacy policy. Nothing about it involves INVENTOWISE, and nothing derived from your photos is transmitted anywhere by Memolens.
5. Permissions
Memolens asks for photo library access — that is the only permission it requests. Full access lets the app index your whole library, which is what makes search over all of your photos possible. If you grant access to only selected photos, Memolens indexes and searches just those. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos.
6. Deleting your data
Because everything lives in the app's container on your device, deletion is entirely in your hands: delete the app and the index is gone. Your photos are untouched — Memolens never alters your library. There is nothing on any server to ask us to delete.
7. Children
Memolens does not collect data from anyone — including children. The app has no chat, no sharing, and no way to transmit content.
8. Changes to this policy
If a future version of Memolens ever changes what the app does with your data — for example, an optional online feature — we will update this policy before that version ships, and the change will be called out in the App Store release notes. The promise that your photos and index stay on your device by default is the product; we do not intend to change it.
